Known issues and troubleshooting

Most modern apps use many third-party components to provide various functionality. Sometimes those components have issues or don't work correctly with other components. That, and with the multiple versions of Android and iOS that are available and currently in use, problems do occur.

Things we know about and possible remedies:

  • Document scanner button issue with Android: The document scanner component introduced in version 1.8 may not show the accept checkmark button when cropping the image using the four corners. If that happens, set the aspect ratio in the camera settings to 4:3, so there is room on the screen for the button.
  • Document scanner permissions issue with Android Pie and older: The document scanner component that the app uses to add new credentials may not correctly ask for permission to view your photo library if your phone is running Android version 6 through 9 (Lollipop through Pie). The app checks for these versions and displays a warning message. If the app can't add a new credential, quit the app, press and hold the app icon, then select "App Info", then "Permissions". Turn off the Storage permission, then turn it on.
  • New install issue with Android Pie and older: If you are installing this app for the first time and your phone is running Android version 6 through 9 (Lollipop through Pie), it may get stuck creating the database. If this happens, quit the app using the square icon and clicking "Clear All", then press and hold the app icon, then select "App Info", then "Storage". Press the button to delete cache, then the button to delete data. Then, relaunch the app.
  • Connected to smart contract-based wallet prior to release 1.6: If you used the WalletConnect function to connect this app to a wallet that was a smart wallet or smart contract-based wallet, such as Pillar or Argent, some features, such as backup and restore, may not work as desired. This is because the app now needs the 12 word backup phrase to map directly to the Ethereum address, which is typically not the case with smart wallets. If this is your situation, and you want to use the app for more than storing document images, then you may want to uninstall, then reinstall the app. This will cause your data to be lost, so be sure to have copies of everything before you do this. If you have many documents and credentials, where the time to recreate the data would be many hours, contact us and we can guide you through a conversion process.
