Data backups

IMPORTANT: All data created in this app are stored locally on your device. There is no central service that stores your data or tracks your usage of this data. As such, you are responsible for the ownership and safety of your data. We cannot recover your data if you lose it.

Apple users: Your app data is likely backed up to iCloud, as long as you have enough space on that cloud service.

Android users: Your app data is likely backed up to Google Drive, but only if the data size is under 25MB. If you store many credentials or have many high resolution images, you may exceed that limit.

If you want an additional level of security over your data, you can backup an encrypted copy of your database via the Backup Database option in the Settings page. Your backup file is encrypted with an encryption key derived from your Ethereum account, therefore no one but you can decrypt it.

You can store the backup file locally on your device. This provides you full ownership and control over the backup. The backup is stored in the "Documents" folder on your device. The filename begins with "u0x". It is STRONGLY ADVISED to copy that backup file to another device or to a cloud storage service that you control, in case your device is lost.

For example, to copy the backup file to another device, you can use a USB cable to connect your device to a computer, then copy the file from the "Documents" folder to your computer. Then you can copy the file from your computer to another device. You can also use a cloud provider such as Google Drive to upload the backup file from your Documents folder.

If you want to restore the backup file to another device, you use the "Enable all features" option in the menu, then import existing account using your 12 word key phrase, so that the new device has the same encryption key to the backup file. If you don't see "Enable all features" in the menu, you have an existing database installed on that device, and you must remove it at Settings: Delete database, then uninstall and reinstall the app.
